Garnet's Museum of Childhood
Welcome to my Museum of Childhood! I chose to study children of Ancient Egypt.
Children were a highly valued part in Ancient Egyptian culture. They were considered a blessing, and if a couple did not have children, they would pray to the gods to bless them with a child. Although children were treated with love and affection, their childhood was short. Some children died at birth, and parents tried to prevent this with spells and charms as well. They were expected to work around the house or farm as soon as they were capable, and had to start thinking about an independent future at the age of 10.
